Here’s How to Stop Your Sephora Beauty Insider Points from Expiring
When you need a really great lipstick, Sephora is there. When it’s time to refresh your seasonal look, Sephora has just what you need. When you need to revamp your skincare routine — that’s right — Sephora has your back. But for a few hours today, the internet thought Sephora had forsaken us when the company announced a change to their Beauty Insider program: Your points now come with an expiration date. But take a deep breath, because there’s an easy way to keep them.
As of last week, Beauty Insider, VIB, and VIB Rogue accounts include a clause stating that unredeemed points will expire after 18 months of inactivity, according to the program’s terms and conditions.
At first, Twitter reacted to the news with the amount of horror and anger you’d expect from makeup lovers, with some admitting to hoarding their points in order to earn a major reward, and others vowing that they’d be moving their loyalties to Nordstrom or Ulta.
WAIT HOLD UP SEPHORA IS GONNA MAKE POINTS EXPIRE I'VE BEEN HOARDING THOSE SINCE HIGH SCHOOL PROM

Wow Sephora points now have an 18 month expiry. I've been hoarding these points for 5 years to make them worth while. BS 😡

If @Sephora wants to put an expiration date on points then I might as well consolidate and buy my makeup from Nordstrom. ☝🏽 stop shop #bye

Points Expire? Used to be VIB Rouge @Sephora, but I want better perks for my $! Will NEVER go back to Sephora, @ultabeauty all the way!

Fortunately for Beauty Insiders everywhere, there appears to have been a slight misunderstanding. Sephora took to Twitter to clarify the updated terms, replying to many concerned Insiders, “Your points only expire if your account is completely inactive for 18 months. If you make a purchase, make a redemption, or redeem your birthday gift once every 18 months, your points will continue to roll over!” So as long as you buy a lipstick or pop by a store for your free birthday treat at least once every 18 months, your points are staying put.
Major crisis averted! And now we have another reason to pop into Sephora during our birthday month.
