Canadian crooner Shawn Mendes now has a little less bare skin to show off, folks. That’s right — the “Stitches” singer has added yet another tattoo to his collection.

A few weeks back, he tweeted about tattoo ideas, saying, “tattoo design.. concept ‘perspective’??” We didn’t have to wait too long; he’s now sporting new ink, courtesy of his friend and artist Livia Tsang of Chronic Ink in Tokyo.
Hailey Baldwin’s boo just finished his world tour in Japan and seems to have commemorated the occasion with a permanent piece of art. According to Teen Vogue, Tsang said that this was not the “perspective” tattoo, but it’s still something to look at.
Sitting on the top of his hand between his thumb and index finger is a swallow. Traditionally, this design has been used by sailors to signify great distances traveled; one swallow typically denotes 5,000 nautical miles. And it wasn’t the only one he got while he was there. Mendes also got a tiny infinity sign on the side of his middle finger.
While he hasn’t personally shared the inspiration behind the new body art, this is the 19-year-old’s second animal tattoo. Perhaps plans to have a whole menagerie on his body — he does already have an elephant, after all.
