Travel Under the Sea With This Glassblower’s Gorg Work
Glassblower Shayna Leib dives under the sea to get inspiration for her work, especially for her extensive Wind + Water collection. The series is tidal-waving our minds and has us considering a month-long diving vacation sometime in the very new future. Leib’s extremely intricate designs have so much texture and life that they almost look like living sculptures in motion.
Her work is absolutely other-worldly, reflecting the ebb and flow of the ocean, as well as the creatures in it — sea weeds, anemones, coral and even tentacles pop out of the frames.
Wind + Water is made up of nine studies including a frosty Cold Winds series, aqua Hydrokinetics series and the colorful Aquatic Currents series.
On her site she talks about her motivation in creating the collection: “The trace of water’s touch over moss and sea life, the wind’s passage over marshlands — these two forces have the capacity to soothe or destroy.”
It’s actually a dream of Liebs to dive in all of the world’s oceans, according to Bored Panda, so we look forward to more of her inspiring adventures in and out of the water.
This is glass-blowing our minds. How about you?
