Simone Biles Will Make History Tonight As the First Female Gymnast Flag Bearer
Despite some of the crazy #Lochtegate drama that has dominated Olympic headlines this past week, overall, there have been waaaay more wonderful moments than bad: and they’re not over yet! As captivated as we were by some of the headlines coming out of the games, like this BBC reporter going for gold in awkward moments, our favorite stories out of Rio included none other than America’s newest sweetheart, Simone Biles. We mean, gurl snagged a kiss from her crush Zac Efron — talk about an unforgettable moment!
Although there’s no confirmation yet if the budding star will in fact compete on Dancing With the Stars or land a cameo in Pretty Little Liars post-Olympics, what we can tell you is that the 19-year-old gold medalist has been chosen as Team USA’s flag bearer for tonight’s closing ceremony, making history once more as the very first female gymnast to ever be chosen for the honor.
Not that she’s stressing out about her final major Olympic moment of 2016! Instead, Simone has been soaking up the rays and taking in Brazil’s stunning beaches while she still can, posting this bikini shot with teammates Aly Raisman and Madison Kocian, captioned, “Rio beach day.”
You’ll be able to watch Simone in action (here’s hoping there’ll be a brand new Simoji for the occasion!) tonight on NBC at 8 pm EST and bask in her glory one last time before she heads home. We. Can’t. Wait.
