How to Make Pizza Crispy Crust in 15 Minutes
Ever made a pizza at home and the crust turn all soggy? It’s a common complaint but we have a solution! By cooking your pizza in an affordable cast iron skillet, you can ensure a crisped crust every time. Keep reading for four great pizza ideas ready in 15 minutes or less!
Let’s start by learning our basic crust method. It’s the basis of all of our pizza recipes.
Basic Crust Method
Ingredients:
– 1 bag pre-made pizza dough
– Flour or cornmeal for dusting
1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place the cast iron skillet inside.
2. Lay a piece of parchment or wax paper on a flat surface. Dust with flour or cornmeal. Gently tear pre-made pizza dough in half and then in half again. Take one of the quarters and gently stretch into a circle about the size of your cast iron skillet.
3. Remove skillet from the oven and place on the stove. Heat over medium heat and gently place the stretched crust inside. Cook for two to three minutes, turn and cook for another two minutes. Reduce heat to low, add toppings, and bake for 12 minutes.
Prosciutto and Lemon Pizza
Makes 1 personal pizza
Ingredients:
– 3 slices proscuitto
– 1 Meyer lemon, thinly sliced
– 1 handful arugula
– 1/2 cup Italian cheese blend (we used Provolone, Asiago, Parmesan, Fontina)
– 3 ounces fresh Mozzarella cheese
– 4 ounces pre-made pizza dough (about the size of your fist)
Gather your ingredients.
Start with the basic crust method, then top with fresh mozzarella, four-cheese blend, prosciutto, and lemon. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool slightly and top with arugula.
Drizzle with a touch of olive oil and serve!
Mushroom and Thyme Pizza
Makes 1 personal pizza
Ingredients:
– 1 cup mushrooms
– 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
– 2 tablespoons pizza or spaghetti sauce (optional)
– 1/2 cup Italian cheese blend (we used Provolone, Asiago, Parmesan, Fontina)
– 3 ounces fresh Mozzarella cheese
– 4 ounces pre-made pizza dough (about the size of your fist)
Grab those ingredients!
Start by sauteing the mushrooms for a few minutes until starting to brown. Wipe out the skillet and continue with the basic crust method. Top crust with tomato sauce (optional), fresh mozzarella, four-cheese blend, mushrooms, and fresh thyme. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
Pull out of the oven and top with some more fresh thyme. Delicious!
Pepperoni Pizza
Makes 1 personal pizza
Ingredients:
– 5 large pepperonis
– Fresh basil leaves
– 2 tablespoons pizza or spaghetti sauce
– 1/2 cup Italian cheese blend (we used Provolone, Asiago, Parmesan, Fontina)
– 3 ounces fresh Mozzarella cheese
– 4 ounces pre-made pizza dough (about the size of your fist)
Pretty traditional ingredients for this one!
Start with the basic crust method, then top pizza with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, four-cheese blend, and pepperonis. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
Top with fresh basil and voila!
Cherry Chocolate Hazelnut Pizza
Makes 1 personal pizza
Ingredients:
– 1 cup cherries
– 1/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (i.e. Nutella)
– 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
– 4 ounces pre-made pizza dough (about the size of your fist)
Time for dessert pizza!
Start with the basic crust method. Top with a 1/4 cup chocolate hazelnut spread and fresh chopped pitted cherries. Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.
Top with sprinkled powdered sugar and you’re done!
