These Stylish Sponges Tell You When It’s Time to Replace Them
Like it or not, your kitchen sponge can house a shocking amount of germs and bacteria quicker than you’d care to admit. And, according to a recent Science Reports study, that old life hack of microwaving it does not make the tool any less nasty. Before you go the one-and-done route, consider the new sponge with a built-in alert to let you know when it’s time to toss. Keep reading to find out how to live a better and cleaner kitchen life.
The Skura Style Skrubby Sponge has patented foam technology that is treated with an antimicrobial agent to inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew. But our favorite feature from Skura (Scandinavian for “scrub” or “scour) besides the modern, colorful look has to be the monogram logo that actually fades when the USA-made sponge should be replaced, which means no more icky smell tests to see if it’s time to toss.
While not sold in stores, the company launched a subscription service. Receive a four-pack once a month for $12 or, if your home doesn’t see a ton of scrub action, pay $12 every other month for a four-pack. And if you’d rather just purchase a four-pack and be done with it, you can cancel the service at no charge.
