What’s New in the World of Showering?
Hi, I'm Brit, the founder and CEO of Brit + Co. I'm a young mom of two, tech nerd and design-inclined lady who has a zillion hobbies and curious about... just about everything! Showers. They’re a daily staple. (At least for most of us.)
It’s not often that something new comes around in the showering and bathing world, but we just ran across the EcoVea, a new type of shower that definitely made us look. It’s key perk? It conserves water by recycling it as you shower! Now you can feel guilt-free about wasting water during those long, hot showers — which means more time for creative ideas (or um, singing) during bath time. Win!
A few quick facts on showering. Assuming you have a modern showerhead rated at ~2.5 gallons per minute, a 10-minute shower would consume 25 gallons of water. Multiply that by the number of people you have in your family. Now multiply that by 365 days of the year. How many gallons of water are you wasting? Yikes, huh? Probably adds up on that utility bill, too.
The EcoVea shower technology bases its effectiveness on a simple fact: most of the time, shower water doesn’t actually get that dirty. So the masterminds behind the product decided to create a filter that fits into your shower floor so that you can reuse water throughout your shower.
You may be a little squeamish about the idea of reused water, but the company uses a filtration so effective (they claim) that the recycled water can even be cleaner than it was to begin with! It also adds a bit of new hot water as its cycled back through so you’re able to maintain a consistently comfortable temp. Best of all, it works into any type of bathroom decor and can integrate with most shower heads.
We’re loving the idea of cutting down on water waste and think this smart shower might pave the way for even more eco-friendly home innovations. Do you agree?
What do you think of the EcoVea? Will you get one installed in your home? Talk to us in the comments below.
