Soccket: A Soccer Ball That Harnesses Energy
Still rocking your Adidas Sambas? Us too. And it’s because we love kicking around a soccer ball – in a park, on the beach, and even on our heads. So why not harness that kicking energy into power? Enter the Soccket.
The Soccket is a portable generator in the form of a soccer ball. For real. Its internal mechanism takes the kinetic energy from rolling and converts and stores it as electric energy. Not only does it store energy, it stores it inside an LED bulb. That’s right. When you’re done juggling your little heart out, you can plug that energy in and create a light source.
Like so many things we love, the Soccket is currently looking for funding over on Kickstarter. $99 will get you a Soccket and lamp, and a legit dose of street cred.
From a non tech-geek standpoint, a cool thing about the Soccket is the implications it has for folks who don’t have a regular power source. It generates power and illuminates any setting in minutes. Win.
It can even charge your phone! What!! So good.
What do you think of the Soccket? Will you fund it? Love the idea of physical activities translating into power for your devices? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
