Sorry, Guys: Miley Cyrus’s Dad Just Implied That She May Not Be Married After All
It’s just about all we can do to keep up with the Miley Cyrus/Liam Hemsworth wedding sitch. First they were engaged. Then they weren’t. Then they kind of, sort of were again (depending on who you asked). Then they DEFINITELY were (though details were changing all the time).
Some thought the pair would have a summer wedding. Others thought they’d already done the deed after photos of Cyrus in a Hemsworth jersey were spotted, along with shots of her referring to his family as her #inlaws. Then she was reportedly putting things on hold for the next four years while President Trump remained in office. (We know — it’s been quite the saga.)
In the internet’s latest shot-in-the-dark theory, fans were quick to jump on a photo posted to Cyrus’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus (yes, the same crooner responsible for “Achy, Breaky Heart”)’s page, which featured his famous daughter smiling while donning a white frock.
Naturally, fans took the shot, along with its caption of “I’m so happy you are happy @mileycyrus,” to mean that she had, in fact, already wed in a secret, Adele-style ceremony.
Neither Cyrus (Miley or Billy) nor Hemsworth said a peep about the matter, adding fire to the fan-fueled convictions.
But Billy Ray has finally broken his silence to set the record straight — sort of. Switching the caption up on the photo, his newly updated version reads, “Whoa! Don’t jump the gun. Been at work #StilltheKing. Glad to see so many love @MileyCyrus the same as I do — happy.”
Hmmm. While it’s not exactly a denial, it definitely shakes our confidence that Cyrus’s fans, were, in fact, on the money with their speculations, as “Don’t jump the gun” implies they’ve gotten a littttttllle ahead of themselves in this regard.
Then again, since Cyrus didn’t outright come out to say his daughter WASN’T married to Hemsworth, we suppose it could be the real deal, with Cyrus saving face so as not to spill his daughter’s well-guarded proverbial beans.
Either way, it seems like we may have to wait a while to find out the truth from Miley herself.
