Friends Round? Sun Shining? You’ll Need This Spiked Strawberry Basil Lemonade Recipe!
Now that winter is officially over, we can turn our thoughts toward all things sunny! Crisp salads, floaty summer dresses, and (of course) big batches of refreshing cocktails. I don’t care if it’s still only April — as long as the sun is shining and you’ve got a few friends to share it with, this spiked strawberry basil lemonade is a must. It’s easy to whizz up in a blender, and the flavor is incredible — the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Add a good dash of vodka or gin if you’re drinking with your besties, or leave it alcohol-free for a more family-friendly treat.
Ingredients:
Serves four
- 2 cups ice cubes, plus more to serve
- 1/3 cup sugar
- juice of 3 lemons
- 4 large strawberries (stalks removed), plus more to serve
- 2 cups cold water
- vodka or gin to taste (approximately 4-8 shots)
- small bunch fresh basil
Instructions:
1. Add the ice cubes to a high-powered blender, along with the sugar, lemon juice, and a few large strawberries. Blitz at high speed until no large lumps of ice remain.
2. Add the cold water and a good slosh of vodka or gin, and blitz again briefly to combine.
3. Fill a large jug halfway with ice, and add some extra sliced strawberries and a few leaves of fresh basil. Pour over the strawberry lemonade and mix well, bashing the basil a little to allow it to release its flavor. Serve immediately.

If you’re not sure whether your blender can manage to blend ice cubes, try using crushed ice instead.

It’s as easy as that! All that’s left to do is to find a few friends to share it with (or not… no judgement here). The end result is sweet and fruity, with a hint of tartness coming through from the lemons — it’s so refreshing. Just the thing to drink on a warm, sunny day.
If you’d rather serve this strawberry basil lemonade as a soft drink, just skip the alcohol — it’s just as delicious either way.
