#SquadHairGoals: The Faux Braid for Curly Hair
Hi, curly girly! It’s the fifth installment of our #SquadHairGoals series, and this week, we’re hacking an edgy braid. Actually, it’s not even technically a braid; it’s a braid-inspired ‘do that’s designed specifically for curly-haired beauties! We’ve created the ultimate faux braid (which looks a lot like the rope braid) by hacking it so gals with textured hair can rock it in about five minutes flat. If you’re after the playful look of a braid but want to switch things up, this hairstyle is for you.
STEP 1: CREATE A PRETTY PONYTAIL
First, pull your hair back into a mid-rise pony. Hide the elastic band by wrapping a piece of hair around it. This hack also gives your ponytail added fullness and a polished, finished look.
STEP 2: MAKE A LOOP-DI-LOOP
Next, add a clear elastic band midway down your ponytail. Split the hair in half just above the elastic.
Loop the ends of your hair up and push the pony through the opening. This is why this type of faux braiding is called the loop-di-loop ;) Keep in mind that this style also works great on straight hair!
STEP 3: CREATE A SECOND LOOP-DI-LOOP
Repeat the same loop-di-loop process.
Don’t forget to let a few curls hang loose in the front and at the sides for a sexy vibe.
That’s it — you’re done, and so, so gorgeous!
