This App Will Change the Way You Get Your Morning Coffee
Our ears perked up yesterday morning when Square announced its mobile order-ahead service, and one day + two cups in, we like it a latte.
Now you can use the Square Order app to tap your way to a hot cup of your signature brew, and it’ll be ready for you to pick up when you get there. Location tagging lets baristas know when you’re close, and the app takes care of payment after you’ve taken your first sip. (Cool BEANS, right?) You can take the espresso lane at participating coffee shops — no lines, no fuss, just instant coffee. Very literally.
You’ll only have to plug in that complicated coffee order once because the app saves your previous orders. Oh, and your name will always be spelled correctly ;) This is perfect for those especially hectic mornings when you can’t brew your own or you accidentally leave your mug on the counter. It would also come in pretty handy if you’re running late to meet a friend for a coffee date.
For now, Square Order is live at coffee shops (and restaurants) that currently use Square Register in San Francisco and NYC, including Blue Bottle. (We can’t wait to give it another chai!) If a PSL is more your style, you’ll have to wait in line. According to GeekWire, Starbucks chose not to partner up with Square and “will be building its own mobile ordering technology slated to come out later this year.” Oh. Snap.
Will you give Square Order a shot? Let us know what you think in the comments!
