St. Patrick’s Day Cookie Recipes and Other Sweet Treats
We’re certain we’re not alone in our crazy-for-cookies holiday madness. Our favorite way to prep for almost any holiday is to turn on the oven and start baking up a storm. St. Patrick’s Day offers so many ways to get creative in the kitchen. First you’ve got the wearin’ of the green — it’s so easy to pipe some green icing on a basic sugar cookie, plus you get to have some fun with cookie cutters. Iced sugar cookies are a great food craft to pull off with kids, who have as much fun decorating them as they do eating them. But beyond colored icing, St. Patrick’s Day offers all that fun imagery that goes along with the folklore: shamrocks and leprechauns and rainbows and pots of gold. Here are 13 shamrock-shaped goodies that are sure to please.
We never cease to be amazed at the creativity we see when we curate these holiday roundups. What would you say to rainbow cupcakes, Lucky Charms pancakes, Nutter-Butter Leprechauns and Crème de Menthe fudge? We say “Seconds, please!” Here are 22 ingenious St. Patrick’s Day sweets.
Over at Bake at 350•, Bridget is baking double-decker rainbow and shamrock cookies with green sprinkles. What is a double-decker cookie, you ask? It’s a cookie on top of a cookie. In this case a shamrock shape over a rectangle cookie. First she pipes rainbow colors on the rectangle cookie, then overlays it with the green-iced shamrock, which then gets green sprinkles. The end result is fantastic! While you are heating up your oven, Bridget has this to share:
Irish Blessing
May your troubles be less,
And your blessings be more
And nothing but happiness,
Come through your door
