Starbucks’ Newest Drink Tastes Just Like Cookie Butter
Starbucks‘ newest beverage tastes like cookie butter in a cup, and its name rolls off the tongue even more easily than #PSL. The Cinnamon Shortbread Latte, affectionately nicknamed #CSL, is available in U.S. and Canada Starbucks stores starting January 8. With notes of brown butter and vanilla, plus warming spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, it’s just the drink to lure you sweetly back to real life after a lazy holiday season.
The CSL begins with your choice of bold signature or smooth blonde espresso, milk, and vanilla and brown butter flavors, finished with cinnamon and nutmeg. Its sweetness is subtle enough not to send you into a full-blown sugar high, but its creamy texture and brown-sugary taste will remind you of your favorite Biscoff dessert. You can order the CSL as a hot latte, an iced beverage, or a whipped- cream-topped Frappuccino, all $5 (varying by market).
Since you’ll need something more substantial to go with your CSL, Starbucks just added two variations on the classic combination of ham and cheese to its food menu. Ham, Cheddar, and Peppers Sous Vide Egg Bites ($4) come together with cage-free eggs, uncured ham, diced veggies, and three types of cheese for an on-the-go breakfast or snack — and they pack 17 grams of protein per serving. At lunchtime, order the new Ham & Swiss Panini ($7), which sandwiches smoky ham, mild Swiss, and spicy Dijon butter into a crispy baguette.
Suddenly craving a cinnamony beverage and a cheesy snack? Order the CSL for a limited time while supplies last, and enjoy the Sous Vide Bites and Ham & Swiss Panini on Starbucks’ permanent food menu. (And grab one of each for us, too.)
