Starbucks’ New Holiday Drinks Are a Fireside Dream
If your idea of a dream winter evening involves chestnuts roasting on an open fire, then we’ve got the best news for you. Starbucks just released two new holiday drinks, and they’re savory and sweet.
The holiday season has been in full swing at the iconic coffee chain all month, and latte lovers are going to die for Starbucks’ new festive featured beverages. First up is the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, which is a twist on the brand’s classic espresso poured over white chocolate mocha sauce with steamed milk. All we can say is: Candied. Cranberry. Sugar. (!!)
In a statement on their official website, Erin Marinan of Starbucks’ beverage development team talks about the inspo behind the drink. “Chocolate is a part of many holiday traditions; it is also a wonderful complement to our signature espresso roast,” Marinan said. “We took white chocolate and applied a culinary twist by slowly roasting white chocolate to brown the cocoa butter and caramelize the milk and sugar. This deepens the flavor, makes it more complex, and brings out toasted nutty notes that linger as you sip the beverage.”
And for a touch of tart, the java geniuses added sugared cranberries on top. “The tartness of the sugared cranberries complements the creamy toasted white chocolate and adds a bling of holiday color,” Marinan added. It comes in hot or iced or as a Frappuccino.
For even more holiday cheer, the coffee giant added another new drink to their seasonal menu: the Chestnut Praline Chai Tea Latte. According to Starbucks, this latte “begins with black tea infused with warming spices, steamed with milk, lightly sweetened with chestnut praline syrup and topped with a sprinkle of spiced praline crumbs. The spices in the chai pair perfectly with the caramelized chestnut notes, creating a warm and comforting beverage full of holiday flair.”
This one also comes in hot or iced and is available for a limited time through the holiday season.
There’s one more sweet treat available through the holidays, and it’s the Candy Cane Whoopie Pie, which features peppermint icing sandwiched between two chocolate cakes.
If you’re all about getting cozy by the fireplace, Starbucks has got you covered. And if you’re totally feeling the holiday cheer already, you can snag free holiday drinks from now until Monday, November 10. What could be better than that?!
