Nicole Miyuki Santo, a lettering and watercolor artist, will teach you how to use a water brush to create beautiful letters. She’ll also show you how to combine those letters into words and blend colors to create beautiful ombre designs. When you’re done, you’ll have pretty hand-lettered quotes like the ones on Instagram.
Calligraphy 101 Online Class
Lauren Essl of Blue Eye Brown Eye will show you all the basics of dip pen calligraphy. She’ll tell you all the supplies you need, as well as how to properly dip and hold your pen. Then you’ll learn basic script for numbers and the uppercase and lowercase alphabets. You’ll have your own beautiful hand-lettered greeting cards at the end!
Fauxligraphy: Pen Calligraphy Online Class
If you aren’t ready to go out and buy brush pens or pointed pens and ink yet, don’t worry! We’ve still got something for you. Alyssa Thiel, the owner and designer of Parris Chic Boutique, will teach you how to use a regular Sharpie (pro tip: You can also use a ballpoint pen!) to turn your handwriting into a lettering style. You’ll learn how to use basic strokes to create and connect letters into words, and even how to transfer your designs onto different surfaces (personalized coffee mug, anyone?).
