Here’s How to Recreate Suki Waterhouse’s Mermaid Makeup
Suki Waterhouse didn’t need fins to look like a mermaid at the premier of her new film, The Bad Batch, last night, nor did she need fire engine red locks, a la Ariel Winter. Instead, the 25-year-old model/actress played the part with some blue and turquoise shadows that shimmered and shined all on their own.
To set off her rockadelic glitzy blue blazer minidress by Mugler, Waterhouse opted for color — and lots of it — on her lids. “The mermaid look works well with all skin types,” celeb makeup artist, Niki M’nray, who created the look, tells Brit + Co. “It’s about layering a few shades on top of each other for maximum effect.”
M’nray favors eyeshadows from Dior, telling those that want to recreate the look at home to “layer blue and turquoise shades, finishing it off with a touch of silver in the outer corners.”
This Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette ($63) has you covered on the first two hues, while this DiorShow Fusion Mono Shadow in Lune ($31) will give you that extra pop of silver sheen you need to complete the look.
To finish it off, M’nray suggests first curling your lashes, then, “Applying a heavy coat of mascara on top, less, but still sufficient amount on the bottom.” Brit + Co Pick: DiorShow Mascara, $29
As for the rest of your face, “Keep the lips subtle, because this look is all about the eyes,” she tells Brit + Co.
And, voila! You’re mermaid ready! Easy, peasy, right?
