Surfer Bethany Hamilton Is Pregnant and Expecting Baby No. 2 — See Her Cute Announcement!
When surfer Bethany Hamilton — who lost her arm during a shark attack in 2003, when she was just 13 years old — revealed she was pregnant with her first child back in 2015, she and her husband, Adam Dirks, shared the news by creating a sweet video that answered any and every possible question that fans might have. Now the proud parents are expecting baby No. 2, and their announcement this time around might be even cuter than the last one.
The Instagram video starts with the couple’s son, two-year-old Tobias, standing on the beach and smiling at the camera, as Dirks asks, “Where’s baby?” Tobias points off-screen to Hamilton, who’s sitting on the sand, leaning against a rock. When Dirks prompts him to “go give baby kissy,” the toddler walks over to his mom and gives her belly an adorable peck. “Muah!” he exclaims.
“Another one on the way!” Dirks says as he joins Tobias and Hamilton in front of the camera. Tobias continues to shower his mom’s belly with kisses, prompting Dirks to say, “You’re going to be a good big brother.” (We have to agree!)

Hamilton previously spoke to People about how becoming a mother to Tobias changed her life, saying, “Having a baby, you pretty much have to plan ahead everything, especially [since I’m] nursing him. I’m attached to him in a sense because I have to nurse him every two to three hours. So I’ll feed him and go surf for a little bit, and try to get back in time, or sometimes we’ll pump a bottle and my husband will take over.”
She added, “[It’s] definitely such a big adjustment. Even surfing, I’ll just be thinking of him. I’ll get back from the beach and I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ve missed you little guy!'” We can only imagine that the feeling will be twice as strong when baby No. 2 arrives.
Congratulations to the growing family!
