Target’s New Affordable Marimekko Collection Is Perfect for Summer
There’s a reason you can’t go to Target for toothpaste and leave with just toothpaste. Whether the retailer is partnering with luxury resort wear brand ViX, designer Adam Lippes or of course Lilly Pulitzer, their amazing collaborations tempt you to buy, buy, buy. And now, just in time for summer, Target is partnering with Finnish design house Marimekko to bring outdoor decor, furniture, swimwear for women + girls and more.
The limited-edition collection, which hits US Target stores April 17, features more than 200 pieces with fun summer items including paddle boards, hammocks and bocce ball sets. Bonus: Most of the items in the collab will cost less than $50 (although the paddle board will set you back $500). Shoppers who like bold prints and vibrant colors will be particularly enticed by the collection. The prints were created by Maija Isola, one of Marimekko’s most well-known designers.
“When it comes to our partnerships, we travel far and wide to find designers and brands we think our guests will love,” says Julie Guggemos, senior vice president of product design and development for Target. “For our spring collaboration, that brought us all the way to Finland. We’ve had our eye on Marimekko for quite some time and can’t wait for guests to have a chance to shop this limited-edition collection in just a few short weeks.”
The two brands came together to create the feeling of “eternal summer and carefree outdoor living by offering items that bring people together and encourage them to play,” according to Target.
Guess we know where we’ll be spending our tax refund this year.
