The Latest Target x Dwell Collab Offers Modern Finds Without the Vintage Pricetag
If Saarinen pedestal tables, Knoll Womb chairs and atomic light fixtures adorn your home, you love modern furniture, but maybe not the hefty price tag. Thankfully, Target and Dwell have come to the rescue. Target is always working with designers like Nate Berkus and Emily Henderson to bring great design at a reasonable price. Their latest collab, Modern by Dwell Magazine, captures modernism beautifully and affordably. Whether you’re looking to spruce up your space or score the perf statement chair, there’s a lot to love in this collection, which will be available online and in select Target stores starting December 27.
“With Modern by Dwell Magazine, we’re excited to introduce modern design to more people than ever,” say Dwell’s co-Creative Directors of Product Design, Chris Deam and Nick Dine. At these prices? Mission accomplished! The aesthetic is mid-century sleek and priced to please. The lounge chair ($250) is reminiscent of the Eero Saarinen executive armchair, but with a tilt-back, lounge-ready appeal.
“With global trends moving toward more Scandinavian-modern organic forms and simplicity… this is a really interesting and viable intersection for us to explore more deeply,” Mark Tritton, Executive Vice-President and Chief Merchandising Officer for Target, told Fastco Design.
You can see the Scandi influence in the dining table ($330) and dining chair ($120). Round tables are a small-space dweller’s dream, with their ability to create a dining area anywhere you want to place it.
Colorful metal lounge chairs and ottomans ($270/set) that feature sparse, industrial lines recall everyone’s fave iconic Acapulco chairs, which are so on-trend right now. You’ll want to nab these versatile pieces as soon as they hit the floor, because they’ll look as great indoors as they will on the deck.
Mark your calendars with a double happy face on December 27, because these sleek modern pieces are priced to move and they’ll go fast.
