Surprise! Taylor Swift Is Dropping a New Music Video This Weekend
“Is it cool that I said all that?” Taylor Swift croons on “Delicate,” the breathy love song off her 2017 multi-platinum album, Reputation. If she was referring to today’s surprise announcement that the track is getting the music video treatment, the answer from Swifties is a resounding, “Uh, yes!”
In a brief early morning Instagram video, set to the tune of the pop ballad, the 10-time Grammy winner unfolded a slip of paper with the following words handwritten across it: “‘Delicate’ Music Video World Premiere Sunday, March 11. iHeartRadio Music Awards.” (Oh, and there was a heart drawn in the corner too, of course!)
Among the pop star’s eight nominations at the DJ Khaled and Hailey Baldwin-hosted awards show: Female Artist of the Year and Best Fan Army. And she’ll have plenty of her famous fan army in attendance, with pals Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, and Camila Cabello — who Swift announced last week will join Charli XCX as the opening acts for her upcoming world tour — performing at the bash. (Cardi B, Maroon 5, and the Backstreet Boys are also slated to hit the stage at The Forum in LA.)
“Delicate” will be the 28-year-old’s fourth video from Reputation, which sold an astounding 1.2 million copies in the week following its November release. But with the track’s slowed-down tempo and vulnerable lyrics describing the, well, “delicate” early stages of a new relationship, don’t expect choreography-heavy clips like Swift released for Reputation‘s “Look What You Made Me Do,” “…Ready for It,” or “End Game” videos, the latter of which featured Sheeran and rapper Future.
Tune in to TBS, TNT, or truTV to see the video when the iHeartRadio Awards air at 8pm ETon Sunday!
