Taylor Swift Just Showed Us the Easiest Way to Update an Old Sweatshirt
As the last semblance of summer finally slips away, those denim shorts and tank tops are now officially being replaced by things like turtlenecks and sweatshirts. And while we love rocking cozy layers as much as the next fall-obsessed gal, we will admit that they can look a little bit blah after a while. But don’t totally give up on that basic gray hoodie just yet. If you’re trying to figure out a way to give that cold-weather wardrobe staple a fun upgrade, Taylor Swift just showed us the perfect way to do it.
Taylor posted this selfie yesterday of a plain hoodie accessorized with a vibrant, embroidered monogram that reads “Tay Tay.” She captioned the pic, “Don’t mind me, I’ll just be wearing this forever.” It’s unclear whether Taylor has used all those hours spent flying around the globe to become an embroidery expert or if this was a super sweet present, but either way the idea is genius. With an embroidery needle and a couple skeins of embroidery floss, you can personalize your sweatshirt with anything from your nickname to an abstract design.
Taylor’s DIY is super wearable, but it looks as though she wasn’t the only celeb to pick up the embroidery needle this weekend. Our girl Lauren Conrad is apparently also a secret expert at the old-school-turned-new-school craft. LC posted an adorable Instagram yesterday of a cross-stitch project she’s working on. The personalized piece of art appears to be a portrait of her, her husband and their two pups. Is embroidery about to become the craft of 2016? All signs point to yes.
