Selena Gomez’s Onstage Tribute to BFF Taylor Swift Will Make You Misty
Selena Gomez may not have many friends, but the ones she does have, she cherishes: a fact she proved by hitting the stage last night with her longtime bestie, Taylor Swift.
The “Wolves” singer, who has previously cited Swift as the best thing about dating a Jonas brother, joined the songstress onstage for the LA stop of her Reputation tour. Together, they belted out a rousing rendition of “Hands to Myself.”
It was the a touching tribute she gave to her pal, however, that had us feeling misty-eyed. “[I want to say thank you] to my best friend of about 12 years, almost 13 — and the reason why she has been one of my best friends is because this person has never, ever judged a single decision I’ve made, she has always met me where I’ve been, she’s encouraged me, when I’ve had nothing to be encouraged about. And I don’t know if I would be as strong as I am if I didn’t have you and your family, because you changed my life.”
She then addressed the crowd before giving her BFF a big hug, saying, “Thank you for supporting someone I know is the most beautiful, strong, independent woman I’ve ever met.”
Gomez wasn’t the only famous face in attendance — Julia Roberts, Rebel Wilson, Amber Rose, Lena Dunham, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Spencer Pratt, who hilariously documented the momentous occasion on his Instagram stories, also turned up to take in the songbird’s tunes.
After the show, Swift had some sweet words of her own for her friend, taking to Instagram to share them with the world. “To the person I could call at any time of day, who has been there no matter what… you absolutely KILLED IT tonight, and everyone was so excited to see you. I love you, and 60,000 people at the Rose Bowl loved you, too.”
