Taylor Swift celebrated her 28th birthday on Wednesday, December 13, an occasion that was marked by sweet messages from besties including Karlie Kloss and Selena Gomez. Swift also penned a message for her fans, saying she couldn’t have asked for a better year, and in a newly surfaced interview clip from 10 years ago, she proves she already knew exactly what she wanted by this age — and it has all come true.
“I will be hopefully headlining, and I would love to be doing great touring and still be putting out successful albums and having the albums’ material grow with me,” an 18-year-old Swift says in an interview with TV station Great American Country, which was posted by a fan account. At the time, Swift would have been promoting her 2006 debut self-titled album, which launched her to country music fame at just 16 years old.

Wearing a pink floral dress and her signature blonde curls, Swift continued to outline her plans for the future, saying, “And never, ever alienate my fans, ever!” she continues. “It’s always going to be all about the fans and I hope that that never changes.”
Ten years later, Swift is arguably more in tune with her fans than ever — she recently hosted private Reputation listening events for them, showed up at one fan’s house unannounced, and even makes sure to stay engaged with them on social media. As for the rest? It’s safe to say she’s headlining her own tours and putting out successful albums!
It’s no surprise that Swift is a focused and hard-working individual, but we gotta say, seeing all of her dreams come true as she predicted is pretty cool.
