The Bachelor Has an Openly LGBTQ Contestant for the First Time
We may have only witnessed the first intro to this season of The Bachelor, but it’s already looking oh so good. Honestly, though, one lady showed up in a shark costume fully convinced that she was a dolphin. How can this not be amazing?! But beyond that, there’s another totally notable fact about Nick Viall’s season: This is the first time the show (or any show in the franchise) has featured an openly LGBTQ contestant.

Though there have been LGBTQ ladies on the show in the past — e.g. Megan Marx and Tiffany Scanlon, who have now apparently found love with each other — this is the first time the show has included a bisexual woman who is fully open about that fact while filming.
Jaimi, a 28-year-old chef from New Orleans, was upfront about the fact that she’s attracted to both men and women. “Nick was really receptive to my past relationship with my ex-girlfriend,” she revealed. “It felt good to kind of set the stage for the rest of my time here.” And if the shots of her and Nick making out are any indication, her time there will certainly be worth watching.
Let’s hope this is a positive step forward when it comes to inclusivity on The Bachelor.
