The “Fantastic Beasts” Sequel Finally Has a Title — and a New Cast Photo!
The people behind the Fantastic Beasts sequel caused quite a commotion last month when they gave us some telling hints about the next film in the wizarding franchise. Now, exactly one year before the movie’s release, we’ve been given both the title — Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald — and a peek at the full cast.
Warner Bros. Pictures released the new image via Twitter and Instagram today, immediately causing a stir among fans who were excited to get a look at Eddie Redmayne stepping back into the starring role, along with (from left to right) Jude Law as a young Dumbledore, Ezra Miller as Credence, Claudia Kim as Maledictus, and Zoe Kravitz as the lovely Leta Lestrange.
We also see Newt’s older brother, Theseus, played by Callum Turner, as well as Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein. Rounding out the group are Dan Fogler’s Jacob Kowalski, Alison Sudol as Queenie Goldstein, and Johnny Depp as the infamous Gellert Grindelwald.
With the first flick, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, taking in a whopping $814 million worldwide back in 2016, it’s no wonder that there’s so much buzz surrounding the follow-up, which will continue the story from the brilliant brain of Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
While the first film ended [SPOILER!] with Grindelwald’s capture by the Magical Congress of the United States of America, it turns out that they weren’t able to hold him for long. We’ll now follow Scamander as he tries to track down his nemesis to prevent pure-blood wizards from rising up to rule over the unsuspecting non-magical beings.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will hit theaters in exactly one year, on November 16, 2018, so be sure to have your wands ready!
