The Most Streamed Shows Based on State Might Surprise You

Despite the fact that binge watching has been found to have a negative correlation on both your mental health and body, it doesn’t seem to be a trend that’s going away anytime soon — in fact, it might be growing traction with the introduction of “Apple and Chill.”

Yet not all binge watches are equal. In fact, as High Speed Internet recently discovered, it can vary quite greatly. One man’s (or woman’s!) Gilmore Girls is another’s Making a Murderer (which will officially be returning at some point), and, according to the site, the state you’re from might hold some major clues about which one will be yours.

Taking the top 75 TV shows on Netflix and analyzying it against Google Trends data, they were able to come up with a comprehensive list of the most popular binges by state, and some of the results came as a bit of a surprise!

While we would’ve guessed the top show to be Stranger Things (also returning for a second season) — which, incidentally, only got Idaho’s vote — hands down, it was the politically driven Scandal that came in first place in a landslide, taking the top spot in Arkansas, DC, Iowa, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina and Ohio. Orange Is the New Black ran a close second, getting six nods in Alaska, Arizona, Michigan, Nebraska, New Mexico and Oklahoma.
