School might be out for the summer, but we're already gearing up to reunite with our favorite Essex students. That's right, The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 is coming to Max! Justin Noble (who created the show with Mindy Kaling) revealed on June 11, 2024 that the junior season of the series has finished filming, which means it'll be hitting our screens soon. Here's everything you need to know about the new TV show— including the reason this is Reneé Rapp's last season. (Heartbreaking!!!)
Is Reneé Rapp leaving The Sex Lives of College Girls?

Yes, The Sex Lives of College Girls season 3 is the last time we'll see Reneé Rapp as Leighton, where she'll be a recurring guest star.
The "Snow Angel" singer announced she was leaving the show with an X post on July 10, 2023. "College girls moved me out to LA and introduced me to some of my favorite people," she says. "A lot of queer work gets belittled — but playing Leighton has changed my life. I love who I am 10x more than I did before knowing her. I hope she gave y'all a little bit of that too. She's such a tiny part of representation but even the tiny parts count. I wouldn't be half the person I am without her and y'all. I love that b—ch more than you know. I'm so excited for this season and I can't wait for you to see what we have coming for her and the girls."
Rapp has expressed that unnamed sets & costars "hurt my feelings" in the past. “Somebody asked, ‘Well, you’re only gay for here, right? You’re not really gay in real life?’” she said, via TheWrap. “I told them I was bisexual, and they were like, ‘But you have a boyfriend?’ And it was like, ‘G— it.’” However, her manager Adam Mersel promises she's exiting the show on good terms.
“Reneé was always really vocal with everyone about music being the focus,” he told the Los Angeles Times. “We were able to come together and find a way that I think is gonna work narratively.”
