There are endless reasons why parents choose certain baby names instead of others. For instance, in 2016, there were some seriously surprising sources of inspiration, including super freaky pop culture influences. And while new names continue to become more popular, older names are getting left behind — and that’s exactly what’s happening to the 36 names on this list that are quickly disappearing.
While the folks over at BabyCentre make it their biz to keep track of which names top the list of most popular of the moment, they also happen to notice which names aren’t getting as much attention. According to their info, there are 36 names which used to be quite common that haven’t been registered yet in 2017, which means that while there may still be folks out there with the names, new parents are avoiding the monikers for their newborn mini-me.
