This Baby Who Was Born on a Plane Gets Free Flights for Life
There are plenty of ways to make traveling more affordable. From airfare payment plans to grabbing a flight at just the right time (cheap tickets to Europe, anyone?), if you’re in the know, you can definitely make being a frequent flyer easier on your bank account. But we’re gonna bet there’s one way you never thought of to snag yourself free tix: be born on a plane! For real, this lucky little one whose untimely birth sparked an unusual entry into this world will now be able to fly for free for the rest of her life.
Missy Berberabe Umandal was on the eventful flight and described the unexpected delivery on Facebook, saying, “Had the most ‘NORMAL’ flight ever with Cebu Pacific Air. A woman near our seat gave birth to a healthy baby girl, on our flight from Dubai back to PH. We had to do an emergency landing in India to ensure the baby’s safety. All flight attendants, pilots, and passengers were very attentive too. …Congratulations to the first-time Mom and Grandma! This is something you don’t get to see everyday. It only happens in movies, and we’re lucky to witness this miracle.”
The full story tells a bit more, including the fact that “luckily, there were two nurses among the passengers.” Thank goodness, because the action was apparently super quick. “She was already crowning, so she was brought to the more spacious area in front of the plane. We only heard one semi-loud screech, and a few seconds later, there were tinier, cute screeches, and it was when we knew the baby was born. Luckily, she only had to push ONCE. Moments later, the woman got up to go back to her seat, baby in arms (mighty strong, I might say).”
Even the other travelers were there to help out. “There were 2 other babies with us in the front row, and one of the passengers had a suitcase full of infant clothes and necessities…” Way to pitch in, peeps!
Missy also added that this little one gets a very special birthday present resulting from her surprise arrival. “Very lucky baby.. since she was born in a Cebu Pac plane, she gets FREE TRAVELS FOR A LIFETIME with the airline.” So cool!
Congratulations to the family, and happy birthday, little traveler!
