This Dad Trick-or-Treating With His Daughter As Beauty and the Beast Will Make Your Day
As we saw with Chris Hemsworth, who DIY-ed his daughter’s dinosaur birthday cake, or President Obama, whose happy birthday serenade to Malia at a White House Party was pure gold, there’s pretty much nothing sweeter than a dad having an adorable moment with his little girl.
Nobody knows that better than Chicago resident Dan Sanchez, who just may have had the sweetest moment of them all when he took his daughter Gianna trick-or-treating at the Lincoln Park Zoo this weekend dressed as — wait for it ― Disney’s own Beauty and the Beast!
“It’s one of her favorite characters, and the new movie is coming out early next year,” Dan said. (Oh, we know, Dan — we’re pretty much dying to see these seven classic moments remade!).
Getting into full beast garb, Dan pulled out all the stops, donning a fearsome sneer, a fur hat, a purple and blue waistcoat and razor-sharp Beast fangs. Gianna, for her part, was every bit the pretty princess, holding her rose scepter with pride. In a word (okay, two)? NAILED it.
It’s not the first time the duo has teamed up to take on Halloween together, either ― a tradition which Dan says has been passed on from his family. “My mom loved making my sisters and I awesome homemade costumes every year.”
Though they bought their Belle and Beast get-ups this year, Dan says his mom now usually helps him make his and Gianna’s own killer costumes.
Last year, for example, they went as a (handmade) Princess Vader and a Stormtrooper…
…and several years back, it was April O’Neil and her Ninja turtle, Raphael, from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Okay, seriously? These two are ADORABLE. As Dan puts it ever so sweetly, “She’s my life, if you haven’t noticed.” From the beam on Gianna’s face, it’s pretty clear the feeling is mutual.
Happy Halloween, guys!
