This Is What True Love Looks Like to Millennials in 2016
In the midst of the recent Brangelina split and other celebrities calling it quits lately, you might be left wondering whether true love really exists, especially considering that many of us were raised on the “happily ever after” storybook ending. So we have to wonder: How do millennials — who often get a rap for being non-committal and who are already doing weddings differently — feel on the subject? In order to get to the heart of how they feel about love, Yik Yak, a location-based social network with a 99% millennial user base, decided to find out.
Yik Yak is an anonymous social media app where users can post and admit things they might not otherwise be willing to share. Similar to Twitter, it provides real-time updates on what’s happening in your area, but more often than not, the posts are totally random and full of quick, quippy one-liners. Since engagement season is upon us, Yik Yak prompted users to share what true love looks like to them. With responses ranging from a willingness to sacrifice anything for someone else, to complementing one another’s weirdness, their millennial user base seems to have a pretty solid idea of what love really means. Scroll on to read eight millennials’ answers, and take note.
