This Nashville News Is Too Good to Be True (but It Is)
Nashville fans are about to have the best. Friday. EVER. Though we tried to soothe the sting with four shows to watch post-finale, ABC broke the collective hearts of the shows’ enthusiasts the world over with its May announcement that it would be cancelling the hit series. Big news came regarding that decision today, however, and we’ll leave it to star Jonathan Jackson to tell you himself:
“Nashville is back!” he says in the above vid, “Thanks to all the Nashies out there. God bless.”
Eeeeeee! Apparently, the power of social media was far too great to be ignored by TV execs, who have officially decided to renew the series for season five, albeit on another network: CMT. Better still? They’ll also be available for same-day viewage on Hulu.
Using hashtags like #BringBackNashville and circulating petitions, fans’ voices were heard loud and clear by the CMT network execs, who said in a statement that it was the aforementioned “Nashies” that directly impacted their choice to pick up the show.
“CMT heard the fans. The wave of love and appreciation they have unleashed for Nashville has been overwhelming,” CMT President Brian Philips explained. “We see our fans and ourselves in this show and we will treasure it like no other network. Nashville belongs on CMT.”
Considering country music is practically a character in and of itself, we kinnnndda’ have to concur.
While it’s unclear if the cast will be returning in its entirety (lead star Hayden Panetierre has famously taken prior leaves from the show due to bouts of postpartum depression), or when the new reboot will premiere, in the meantime, we’ll leave you with this excited tweet from star Claire Bowen (who totally inspired us with the sweet story behind her pixie cut).
Nashies Worldwide: You've been heard. We did it. We're back. We love you! See you soon! ❤️ #Nashville https://t.co/dr1m9I3Qc9
