This New Beauty Website Is Like TOMS for Makeup
Feeling a little bit guilty about spending most of your paycheck on lipstick, bronzer and BB cream? Well beauty mavens, we have some good news for you. There’s now a way to keep up your makeup addiction AND donate to a good cause — and it won’t cost you a penny extra. Introducing: BeautyKind.
The online cosmetic destination is similar to other popular makeup vendors like Sephora or Ulta, except when you buy a product through BeautyKind they’ll donate 5% of your total to a charity of your choice. BeautyKind works with GuideStar to establish and maintain a list of charitable organizations and nonprofits. If there is one you don’t see that you really want to donate to, BeautyKind asks you to write them and they’ll review your pick. They even have over 70 PTA associations listed.
Now on to what we’re sure your next question is: are the prices higher because of the charitable aspect? In short, the answer is no. BeautyKind sells everything at the suggested retail price, but they explain, “Since BeautyKind does not have brick and mortar stores, the costs that would be spent to maintain those stores are re-allocated to fund and support our cause initiatives and Rewards Program.”
However, the brands available on BeautyKind aren’t exactly the big names you’ll find somewhere like Sephora. Instead, expect to browse through smaller cosmetic companies like Laura Geller, Vapour and Hush & Dotti. They may be lesser known, but the quality is definitely there. In fact, a number of them are made with organic ingredients. It may seem risky, but if you’re willing to give them a shot it could be good not only for your beauty regime, but also for a deserving cause.
