Torrid Will Break Barriers As the First Plus-Size Brand to Show at NYFW
We’ve seen the likes of Ashley Graham and Iskra Lawrence grace the runways for New York Fashion Week, but so far, we have yet to see a plus-size brand host a show. This September, Torrid is changing all of that.
Come September 12, the popular retailer, which dresses women sizes 10-30, will show off 40 looks from its Spring 2018 collection during NYFW. The event marks the first time a plus-size brand has been included in NYFW and will def help boost the number of plus-size models participating. Last year, 27 curvy models walked the runways during NYFW.

IMG Fashion, which sponsors the Big Apple’s fashion week, is also clearly excited about the new addition in WWD. “We appreciate the [Torrid’s] commitment to size inclusiveness and body-positive message and believe they are an excellent partner as we continue pushing the boundaries of the fashion industry,” said SVP and managing director Catherine Bennett.

Part of Torrid’s runway show will also serve as their third annual model search competition, featuring the celeb judges model Candice Huffine, Project Runway winner Ashley Nell Tipton, and MUA Priscilla Ono.
