Treat Your Backside to a Custom Colored Cushion
Spruce up your seats! Whether you are throwing an outdoor BBQ or a huge wedding, it’s easy to add a spark of your personality to your seats with a dose of scrappy DIY action. These are great to have on hand at home for last minute dinner parties or game nights and are a lot of fun to make. For this project, we used ivory seat cushions from Ikea ($5.99 a pop!), fabric paint, and our trusty roll of painter’s tape.
Materials:
– basic seat cushions
– fabric paint (we used Tulip Soft Fabric Paint)
Get all of your materials in order and tape off a section of your seat cushion in a fun pattern. We started this one with a simple blue triangle.
Now it’s time to paint!
Any paint brush and fabric paint combo will do, but we like this soft fabric paint because it has a more velveteen finish and looks less shiny than some paints. Let the paint dry for 2-3 hours. Then remove your tape and have a set!
Here are some shots of a whole bunch of cushions my team and I created for a summer wedding in Arizona. This could also be a fun group activity for friends and/or bridesmaids leading up to a wedding.
Loving the bright color combos!
How might you customize cushions for your home or for a big event? If you give these a try, we’d love to see photos! Send ’em our way on Twitter or Facebook. And if you have any questions about this tutorial, be sure to leave us a note in the comments below.
