This New Search Tool Tells You Exactly What Locals Think of the Neighborhood
Cardboard boxes and U-Hauls aside, perhaps the most difficult part of moving is *finding* the perfect home in the first place. While there are myriad online platforms that help whittle your options as far as price and location are concerned, it’s almost impossible to get a feel for the neighborhood culture through a website or an app — until now.
Trulia just launched a new feature called “What Locals Say,” and it’s pretty much what it sounds like. Basically, current neighborhood residents can answer questions regarding its vibe — ranging from the restaurant scene, whether it’s dog-friendly, and whether it feels safe to walk around alone at night. (For instance, 95 percent of Civic Center, San Francisco residents polled say the area is dog-friendly.) That way, prospective renters and buyers can get a feel for the lifestyle factor. Think of it kinda like Yelp for real estate.
“We understand that neighborhoods matter,” Tim Correia, senior VP and general manager of Trulia, said in a statement. “Our new mission will guide Trulia to deliver even more innovative products to help buyers and renters discover and understand what it’s really like to live in a home and neighborhood before they move in, much like a trusted friend or neighbor.”
