Turtle Shell: A Portable Speaker That Can Go Anywhere You Can
You know we’re all about portability, ingenuity, and the constant ability to rock out. We’ve turned our Big Jambox into a portable boom box, styled it up with the Jammy Pack, and are all about turning old records and tapes into digital files for old school rocking. And with a whole slew of Bluetooth-enabled speakers coming onto the scene, our ability to rock out is becoming even more seamless.
The newest of these gadgets is the Turtle Shell. Or as we like to call it, the most bodacious turtle since those teenage mutant ninjas. ;)
A project by Outdoor Tech Design Lab, Turtle Shell is a water-resistant Bluetooth speaker that’s mountable to just about anything. It is dust and shock proof, meaning it can pretty much go everywhere you can. If it gets covered in mud, just wash it off in the sink. That’s right. Electronics in the sink. No problem!
Like the Jambox, Turtle Shell can pair with any device that has Bluetooth, making it easy to add big sound to even the littlest of devices.
The Turtle Claw is a matching accessory that acts as a mount for your Shell. It can also attach to any camera accessory that uses a standard tripod mount, making it even more versatile than just being able to clip anywhere.
And color! As of now, the Turtle Shell is available in 7 vibrant colors, and we’re sure more are on the way. For a $99 pledge on Kickstarter, be one of the first to snag the Turtle Shell in any color you want. For $125, get the Shell along with the Claw for truly portable sound.
But wait, there’s more! If the Turtle Shell reaches $200,000 in funding on Kickstarter (5 times their $40,000 goal), they will give an ADAPT to anyone who pledges over $99. The ADAPT is a device that gives Bluetooth functionality to anything with a standard audio jack. Awesomeness.
While we need to hear it to believe it, we are pretty sure this puppy came to play and are definitely supporting it so we can be of the first to try it out.
