Tyra Banks Just Nixed the Age Limit for America’s Next Top Model Contestants
Fierce supermodel/proud mama/college professor Tyra Banks is out to solidify the fact that beauty has no age limit (check out Naomi Watts’ age-defying beauty routine for further proof) with an exciting new twist for America’s Next Top Model. Not only will Banks be returning to the show, but the upcoming season will have NO maximum age limit for its contestants. FINALLY!
Traditionally, the reality TV show has capped its models at 27 years old. Although the minimum age is staying put at 18, cycle 24 will be inclusive to woman of all ages, meaning we could soon see more beauties like Mercy Brewer, the 50-something model starring in Lonely lingerie’s latest campaign. The 43-year-old host announced the change via an Instagram video, saying, “You know I’ve stood for diverse beauty and erasing cookie-cutters when it comes to what is deemed beautiful.”

“There have been 23 cycles of America’s Next Top Model and every single cycle, we say, you have to be 27 years old or younger,” she continued. “Know what I hear all the time? ‘Tyra, come on! Why have an age limit?’ So you know what? I’m taking that age limit off!” YAS, QUEEN.
“You wanna audition for America’s next top model? I don’t care how old you are, honey, you just need to know how to smize and be open to learning how to work the runway like a supermodel,” concluded Banks.
Thinking about trying out? All you have to do is send three snaps, your name, age, height, and weight (yes, all shapes and sizes are welcome too!), plus your contact info to VH1TopModel@gmail.com, as well as via Twitter using the hashtag#michellemockcasting.
We can’t wait to see what diverse contestants this cycle will bring!
