This Video of the US Olympic Swim Team Doing Carpool Karaoke Is Everything
The Olympics kicked off earlier tonight with the official opening ceremony (slayyyyyy, Gisele, slay!) in Rio de Janeiro, and while athletes from every country have been hard at work training for the games, we feel more confident than ever in team USA after seeing our Olympic swim team’s, erm, preparations.
Forget the gym — as of yesterday, these guys were making magic happen in a car: Make that nine cars, to be exact.
Piling in with drivers including Nathan Adrian, Elizabeth Beisel, new daddy Michael Phelps, Katie Ledecky and Ryan Lochte, the entire team made a James Corden Carpool Karaoke-style vid of Michelle Obama proportions that had them belting out everything from the Pokemon theme song (it’s the closest they’ll get to the little guys for awhile *tear*), to the Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” to Fifth Harmony’s “Bo$$,” to Cheap Trick’s “In the Street…” Need we go on?
Needless to say, things got a little cray: “I don’t feel safe driving four other Olympians,” Katie said before exiting the car. And forget trying to keep up with their drive-through orders in between takes (although yes, they *do* eat ice cream just like the rest of us, killer bods be darned… well, sort of).
One tune they were NOT down with? Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe.” “Get it off!” they cried. (Sorry, girl).
Closing things out with (what else?!) Miley Cyrus’s “Party in the U.S.A.,” it’s official: No matter how they wind up doing in the games, they’ve already taken home gold in our hearts.
Best of luck, guys!
