Marc Jacobs Is Teaming Up With Vans for a Sneaker Collab That Will Blow Your MIND
Vans is on a mission to have us empty pockets. First, they glitter-coated their sneakers. Then, they debuted some adorable puppy-and-kitten printed low-tops. Now, the shoe company, with a little help from Marc Jacobs, just gave their classic slip-ons a high-fashion makeover. And we need them.
The Vans x MJ slip-on features a graphic illustration by visual artist Julie Verhoeven and is a limited (and we mean limited — there are only 125 pairs) edition.
And in honor of the collab, Vans have commissioned various artists to use the mashup shoe as a canvas for their own original take. Jacobs has been posting photos of the final pieces on his Instagram page, and they’re unlike anything you’ve seen before.
The creatives tapped include Marc Jacobs himself (duh), Japanese botanical artist Toru Kamei, and Lady Gaga’s personal makeup artist.
You can view the one-of-a-kind art works in-person or even customize your very own for purchase this Friday, June 16, at their stores: Bookmarc, 113 Prince Street in New York City or Aoyama, 4-26-14, Jingumae, Shibuyaku, Tokyo.
If you’re not near either location, there’s still one more way to get your hands on a pair: You can also enter to win one of 10 limited-edition Vans x Marc Jacobs sneakers, and they’ll come with fabric markers so you get down with your creative self.
But you’ll have to hurry! The giveaway ends TODAY at 11:59pm EST.
