The ‘Veronica Mars’ Cast Reunited Just to Troll Us and We’re Kind of Okay With It
Kristen Bell would love to bring Veronica Mars back to TV, so she reunited with her costars Jason Dohring and Ryan Hansen to ask fans for their help. At least, that’s what she thought she was doing.
“So, the network is apparently finally considering bringing back our beloved show,” Bell says in a YouTube video. “But it is going to take something very special to push them over the edge.”
“Our fans have always been such a big part of the success of the show, which is why we’re inviting you to be a part of bringing it back,” Dohring continues.
Hansen, who played Dick Casablancas on Veronica Mars, then pipes in, “Clever stunt campaigns have always been such a huge part of getting a show renewed.” (Indeed, the 2014 Veronica Mars movie was crowdfunded by fans on Kickstarter.)
With that in mind, Bell suggests sending letters “and maybe Mars bars” to the network to encourage them to bring back Veronica Mars.
Except, it turns out that that’s not the point of the video at all. The “network” in the script is actually YouTube Red — which airs Hansen’s *other* show.
Realizing she and Dohring have been “duped” into campaigning for Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, Bell blows up at her former costar, telling Hansen, “I thought I hated you before, but I really hate you now.” (Please never change, Dick and Veronica.)
Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, which costars Aly Michalka and Samira Wiley, is a comedy about LAPD homicide detectives who are partnered with actors in order to solve murders. Season 1 is available on YouTube Red.
