Victoria’s Secret Could Finally Be Getting a Plus-Size Angel
Their fashion show is basically the Super Bowl of lingerie and millions of people tune in every year to see the Angels and their wings strut their stuff down the runway. For the longest time, a Victoria’s Secret Angel has looked, well, pretty much like your “average” glamazon: tall, supermodel thin — but maybe that’s all about to change.
Recently, 10 of VS’s new Angels made an appearance in Times Square in NYC in an effort to promote the brand’s Body by Victoria line. The new line offers sizing from A to DDD and XS to XL — so there’s plenty of options for sizes, which begged the question of whether or not models who fit in them will join the roster. New Angel and Polish supermodel Jac Jagaciak told the Daily Mail that, “‘I think the whole world is more open to plus-size [models] and I am sure at some point they will be ready for it.”
We certainly hope so too. It’s not such an inclusive practice, it’d be a smart business move for the lingerie giant. According to an article by Business Insider, Victoria’s Secret currently controls about 35 percent of the lingerie market — but could easily be making more just by stocking more plus sizes. The plus size lingerie industry has estimated to be worth about nine billion dollars (yes, BILLION) and while VS is missing out, plenty of people — like gorg model Ashley Graham — have been capitalizing on it.
So, what are you waiting for, Victoria’s Secret? Get on it!
