Viola Davis’s Oscar Afterparty Sneaker Swap Is Another Reason to Love Her
Viola Davis is truly a woman after our own heart. After she won the Oscar for Actress in a supporting role for her character in Fences and brought the internet to tears, Davis went backstage, took off her fire-engine red Stuart Weitzman heels, and slipped on a pair of crimson YRU Qozmo Hi Platforms ($100) to match her Armani Privé dress.

Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, shared a super relatable pic on Instagram, writing, “Live from backstage! The incomparable @violadavis after her OSCAR WIN!! With brilliant team member @jennybrunt1 backstage at the ready with @yrushoes platforms for comfort. Thanks @stuartweitzman for carrying Viola to the win!”
So we weren’t too surprised that she didn’t put her heels back on for the Vanity Fair after-party. Instead, Davis opted to wear a pair of Stella McCartney Creepers ($950) with her Brandon Maxwell lapel jacket and wide-leg pants. Casual AND cool.
It’s not the only trick the Oscar winner has up her sleeve for heel pain. The How to Get Away With Murder actress often talks about prioritizing comfort without sacrificing style at award shows. She admitted to the Coveteur that for the SAG Awards, she sprayed Still Standing ($30) all over her feet to stay upright.
