This App Solves a Beauty Problem You Didn’t Realize You Had
There’s no denying that Sephora is a magical wonderland for makeup, but when your to-do list is a mile long, it’s tough to squeeze in a visit to your fave beauty destination. Busy gals deserve some makeup fun too! That’s why we’re so excited to have discovered an app that not only allows the world to be your makeup inspo, but also lets you try on any shade of color before you buy it… without the mess.
ShadeScout is the latest in makeup technology. It's a cosmetic color search app that allows you to find any shade of makeup from the world that surrounds you. Really like that shade of green from your bridesmaid's dress? What about that bright pink icing color that you're sure would make a perfect lipstick shade? ShadeScout will be your new best makeup friend when it comes to discovering that beauty products you've always dreamed of.
Just download the app and snap away at anything and everything. After taking a picture of an object, “scout” for the color by moving the crosshairs over the desired location. ShadeScout will provide you with a small list of identical (or relatively close) colors to the shade of your choosing on the sidebar. It will also tell you which company creates products in those shades, and how much they cost.
After choosing the shade, ShadeScout will also allow you to virtually try on the hue with a makeup goodie in that shade. With multiple options for how you might “wear” the product, you can pucker up and try out the color on your lips, or swipe it over your lids. All you need to do is hold the phone in front of you, as if you were going to take a selfie, and the color will magically hover over the selected facial area. If it’s love at first sight, you can buy the product directly through ShadeScout. Or if you want you to try the shade on in person, just tap the “favorite” button, and you can save it for later.
According to Women’s Wear Daily, there are more than 10,000 products to choose from. If you’ve got a go-to brand, you can filter for your fave reliable products. Need to step up your mani?
