How to Use Washi Tape to Revamp Your Furniture
We’re no strangers to the wonder that is washi tape. We’ve used the colorful adhesive to wallpaper our walls, create “cross-stitch” wall art and even make a faux fireplace for the holidays. Today, we’ve teamed up with Scotch® Brand to revamp a few plain pieces of white furniture with, you guessed it, Scotch® Expressions Washi Tape!
It’s such an easy way to add color and pattern to almost any surface. Now, let’s get to it.

We used a mix of colorful tapes as well as black and white stripes. In terms of furniture, we pepped up a dresser, bookshelf and nightstand.
We’re betting you know a dresser like this one — it’s a basic. It does its job, but it doesn’t have the boldest personality. We’re not saying you have to go crazy covering it with stripes and colors, but it could use a little pop.
For this design, we decided to create a vertical set of stripes that cover the left edge of the dresser from top to bottom. Start on one end and attach tape the top drawer. Wrap around the top and bottom of the drawer, and then cut your washi tape. Continue on down with the same color, and then continue on over with different colors of your choice.
Add stripes to the interior edge of your drawers as well for a little something extra.
And you’re done!
Next, we took an itty bitty bookshelf and added washi trim to the edges. This colorful style would be great for a kids’ room.
Simply line the edges of each shelf with washi, and add additional stripes as you see fit.
We do love that pink phone ;)
Finally, we gave the washi treatment to a nightstand.
Oh hey, is that a recently released book called Homemakers on the top shelf?!
