When Two Become One: The Watermelon Champagne Story
I truly do believe that watermelon is nature’s most photogenic fruit. No matter which way you slice it (ha!), it’s the perfect, Instagram-able subject, which is why you need to make these cocktails to snap and round out your summer feed (watermelon party, anyone?). We’ll show you two ways to combine Champagne and watermelon to create the most refreshing cocktail. Both of these beverages require little prep time and almost zero measuring. Now that’s my kind of drink!
Adult slushies are trending, and now’s your time to hop on the bandwagon!
Serve up these super chic watermelon cube cocktails at your next poolside soiree.
Ingredients:
— mini watermelon (buy two if you plan to make both cocktails)
— Champagne
— fresh mint
— garnish (sour candies, fresh fruit)
— skewers
It literally does not get any easier than this. Really. The only way this cocktail could be any easier is if you just chugged Champagne and ate watermelon (if that sounds like your jam, I fully support you).
CHAMPAGNE ON THE (WATERMELON) ROCKS
Slice the mini watermelon in half. Take one-half of the watermelon and make a slice about two inches wide. This is the start of your watermelon ice cube.
Make four evenly spaced cuts into your watermelon slice. Then make three evenly spaced cuts into the watermelon slice in the opposite direction. Your watermelon cubes should pop right out!
Place the watermelon ice cubes in the freezer overnight, or at least two hours before serving.
When you’re ready to serve the drinks, stack two watermelon ice cubes into a chilled glass and fill the remainder of the glass with Champagne.
Garnish with fresh mint and a slice of watermelon. Boom! Easiest watermelon cocktail EVER. The frozen watermelon will keep your Champagne chilly without watering it down. Plus, you’ll have a booze-soaked treat waiting for you when you’re finished. Yum!
It’s time to replace the sugar buzz from your childhood with a Champagne buzz. Serve these cocktails up with some sour candies to preserve the nostalgia (without the brain freeze and toothache).
CHAMPAGNE WATERMELON SLUSHIES
Cut your watermelon into cubes. One mini watermelon is enough to make four cocktails.
Place two parts watermelon and one part ice cubes into a blender. Blend until smooth.
Fill your glasses about 1/3 with Champagne. Fill the rest with the watermelon blend.
Garnish with fun, nostalgic items like sour candies and silly straws. We found these mini bananas that were the PERFECT garnish.
Watermelon and Champagne just belong together, forever.
