We Finally Know the Release Date for Toy Story 4
It’s a heck of a time for anyone who has nostalgic love for anything and everything that reminds them of their childhood. We’re talking about the fact that Fraggle Rock is coming back, Muppet Babies will be getting the remake treatment and That’s So Raven will see a spinoff. Now, news is out that not only has Toy Story 4 finally been officially confirmed, but we also know the date that the next story will be hitting the movie screens. Get ready to jump out of the toy box!
John Lasseter, who directed the first two movies which featured our fave toy cowboy, Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and spaceman, Buzz Lightyear (voice by Tim Allen), will be back for the fourth, and said of the project, “Toy Story 3 ended Woody and Buzz’s story with Andy so perfectly that for a long time, we never even talked about doing another Toy Story movie.” Justified. The first three movies are definitely beloved classics and messing with ’em wouldn’t be a smart move.
But John has faith. “When [we] came up with this new idea, I just could not stop thinking about it. It was so exciting to me, I knew we had to make this movie — and I wanted to direct it myself.”
He added, “We love these characters so much; they are like family to us. We don’t want to do anything with them unless it lives up to or surpasses what’s gone before.” Totally understandable. But we’re sure this newest installment will be perfectly awesome, especially with Rashida Jones stepping in to co-write the story. With a plot that’s apparently a toy-based romance, we’re hoping Buzz meets his space-based bae. How cute would that be?!
Though we can’t wait to check out the fourth Toy Story, we’ll have to wait a little while (or, in fact, a looong while), as the film is slated to be released on June 21, 2019.
To infinity and beyond!
