Brit + Co’s Weekly Entertainment Planner: The Final ‘New Girl’ Season Premiere, Coachella, ‘Rampage,’ and More!
Welcome to Brit + Co’s Weekly Entertainment Planner! Each Monday, we highlight one thing we’re excited about in six categories — movies, TV, music, streaming services, podcasts, and a bonus pick from all of the above — to help you navigate your week in watching and listening. Check out our picks for the week of April 9 to 15 below. Your eyes and your ears will thank us!
MovieS
Rampage (April 13): When a genetic experiment gone very awry turns otherwise docile animals into giant, raging monsters terrorizing North American cities, we can count only on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson to save us. Rampage is based on a video game you may remember from your childhood, and we declare it the unofficial kickoff to summer blockbuster season. Make sure to grab popcorn for this one! TV
New Girl season 7 premiere (April 10): It’s the end of the road for Jess and the gang as New Girl starts its seventh — and final — season. Show creator Liz Meriwether told us back in January that the final episodes would be a “love letter to the fans,” and according to star Lamorne Morris (AKA Winston Bishop), shooting the last season brought Jake Johnson (Nick Miller) to tears. A lot. Watch Tuesday, April 10, at 8:30pm ET on Fox. (Photo via Jeff Lipsky/Fox)
Streaming
Lost In Space (April 13): Based on the ’60s TV show of the same name, the Netflix reboot finds the Robinson family living in the year 2046 and stranded after their spaceship crashes on an unknown planet. The show slowly takes on a Lost vibe as the family discovers they aren’t the only survivors — and yes, there will be weird monsters. Season 1 is available on Netflix worldwide starting Friday, April 10. (Photo via Netflix)
Podcasts
Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: Based on the best-selling book and featuring amazing and accomplished women reading the stories of other heroic women — including athletes, chefs, astronauts, engineers, and more — the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls podcast will give you an extra dose of inspiration and motivation. Subscribe and download episodes here.
Music
Coachella (April 13-15): One year after her pregnancy forced her to pull out of headlining, Beyoncé, as promised, is back! Queen Bey, The Weeknd, and Eminem will headline Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, respectively — with tons of your other favorite artists in between — and then they’ll do it all again next weekend. If you won’t be making your way to Indio, California, you can watch it all on YouTube. (Photo via Christopher Polk/Getty Images for Coachella)
Bonus
Fixer Upper: Behind the Design (April 10): Chip and Joanna Gaines said goodbye to their beloved HGTV series last week, but fear not! The new, supplemental Behind the Design series premieres this week, and it will give an all-new, behind-the-scenes look at the design and renovation process of the couple’s projects over the years. ACM Awards (April 15): Chris Stapleton, Thomas Rhett, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, and Maren Morris lead the nominations for the 53rd annual ACM Awards, which will take place live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will feature several live performances, including one by Carrie Underwood, who is set return to the stage for her first post-accident appearance to debut a brand-new single.
