In an email sent to Brit + Co, a spokesperson for My/Mo Mochi Ice Cream revealed that mochi sales have skyrocketed more than 100 percent this year alone, so even though it’s a food with origins in ancient Japanese history, mochi is undeniably having a moment in popular American culture, too.
